Medical Laboratory Technology Lab established in Doaba College
A well-equipped fully functional air-conditioned Medical Laboratory Technology Lab has been established in the Department of Biotechnology of the College.
Jalandhar, August 17, 2022: Principal Dr Pardeep Bhandari said that Doaba College, Jalandhar has taken a remarkable lead in the region by starting a skill oriented one-year paramedical course “Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT)” approved by GNDU, Amritsar.
Dr Bhandari said that a well-equipped fully functional air-conditioned Medical Laboratory Technology Lab has been established in the Department of Biotechnology of the College.
The MLT Lab was inaugurated by Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal and Doaba College Managing Committee along with Dr.Pardeep Bhandari, Principal, Doaba College, Jalandhar.
Dr. Rajiv Khosla, Coordinator, School of Life Sciences & HoD, Biotechnology along with Prof KK Yadav, Dean Academics & HoD, Chemistry; Dr. Arshdeep Singh, HoD, Physics; Dr. Ashwani Kumar, HoD, Zoology; Dr. Rakesh Kumar, HoD, Botany; Dr. Shivika Dutta, Dr. Narinder Kumar and Dr. Poonam Bhagat welcomed the dignitaries.
Dr. Rajiv Khosla has presented an overview of the lab. He told that the MLT lab has sophisticated instruments such as Semi-automatic Biochemical analyzer, ELISA reader, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Refrigerated Centrifuges, PCR machines, Horizontal and Vertical Biosafety Cabinets, Microscopes with MIPS, Binocular Microscopes, Autoclave, BOD, Digital Colony Counter etc. for imparting hands-on training to the students. He further added that the skilled and qualified Medical lab technologist in addition to being self-reliant entrepreneur has plethora of professional opportunities such as Laboratory technician in government and private hospitals as well as clinical diagnostics chains, Laboratory technician in blood banks, pathology laboratories, Lab supervisor, Lab manager etc.
Chander Mohan said that pertaining to the challenges imposed by COVID-19 pandemic to the healthcare sector, such skill enrichment courses are the need of the hour. He further emphasized on making sincere efforts for active collaborations with hospitals and Diagnostic chains for providing the opportunity of clinical internships to the students. He congratulated Dr.
Pardeep Bhandari and Dr. Rajiv Khosla for making such wonderful novel endeavors.
Dr. Pardeep Bhandari said thatthis one year DMLT course @ DCJ will provide an incredible skill development platform to the students for the enhancement of their employability potential and career prospects in the domain of clinical diagnostics.
