Ludhiana, January 1, 2023: Today, a meeting of the Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organization was held under the chairmanship of Gurmeet Singh Kular, President of FICO, regarding the impact and effect of the transport strike on the industry of Ludhiana and the lives of Ludhianvis. FICO urged the PMO to intervene and resolve the matter on priority.
The meeting observed that Punjab is a landlocked state, and the total supply chain of material, either inwards of raw materials or outwards of finished products, totally depends on the transportation systems. The strike of the transporters has badly affected the dispatch of the industry, resulting in losses ranging in crores for yesterday and today. Further, the strike has resulted in a shortfall in the supply of petroleum products, and with the rise in demand, most of the fuel stations in the city have been dried today, leading to a situation of panic amongst the citizens. Furthermore, the transportation of all the essential commodities depends only on the transportation system; if the strike continues for another day, there will be a shortage in the supply of vegetables, fruits, and other essentials, which will make the situation worse for us. It is requested that the Prime Minister's Office immediately intervene and resolve the matter at war footage.
Present in the meeting were Gurmeet Singh Kular President FICO, Rajeev Jain General Secretary FICO, Vipan Mittal Vice Chairman FICO, Baldev Singh Amar Vice President FICO and Ashpreet Singh Sahni Organizing Secretary FICO.
