Meeting of officials of Northern Railway held in Chandigarh.
On behalf of MP Manish Tewari, former chairman Pawan Dewan raised the problems of constituency
Chandigarh, November 16: A meeting of MPs from the states belonging to Ambala and Ferozepur divisions was organised by Northern Railways at a private hotel in Chandigarh, in which on behalf of Member of Parliament from Sri Anandpur Sahib and former Union Minister Manish Tewari, Punjab Large Industrial Development Board's Former Chairman Pawan Dewan joined the meeting and put forward the different problems related to the Lok Sabha constituency in front of the railway officials.
It is worth mentioning that Ashutosh Gangwal, General Manager, Northern Railway, Dr. Seema Sharma, DRM, Ferozepur Railway Division, Mandeep Singh Bhatia, DRM, Ambala Railway Division were present in the meeting, in which MPs and their representatives from Jammu, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and Punjab were present.
Giving information about the meeting, Pawan Dewan said that ,many important issues related to Sri Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha constituency have been raised before the railway officials, mainly the issue of modernization of Sri Anandpur Sahib railway station, so that world class restaurants and other facilities can be made available to the passengers there. A large number of devotees reach here to pay obeisance at the famous pilgrimage centre’ Shri Anandpur Sahib and Mata Naina Devi and the Vande Bharat train also stops here.
The need for modernization of Nawanshahr and Ropar railway stations was also put before the railway officials from where a large number of passengers travel.
Similarly, the problem of the shopkeepers of the area was also raised regarding the Morinda Railway Under Bridge (RUB), where there is no paved road leading to the shops due to non-construction of service lane. There has been a long-standing demand to connect Balachaur with the rail network and this topic was once again placed before the railway officials. Similarly, the problem faced by passengers due to non-stoppage of trains at Morinda and Kurali railway stations after the Corona epidemic was also discussed.
