Meeting of Punjab Naujawan Kisan Sanstha (PNKS) by FASC
A meeting of Punjab Naujawan Kisan Sanstha was held at Farm Advisory Service Centre (FASC), Tarn Taran on Tuesday. More than 60 young farmers participated in the meeting. The major aim of the meeting was to discuss the current field problems faced by PNKS members and their fellow farmers in various rabi crops and to encourage the active involvement of young farmers in various extension activities conducted by FASC, Tarn Taran.
Ludhiana, January 21, 2025: A meeting of Punjab Naujawan Kisan Sanstha was held at Farm Advisory Service Centre (FASC), Tarn Taran on Tuesday. More than 60 young farmers participated in the meeting. The major aim of the meeting was to discuss the current field problems faced by PNKS members and their fellow farmers in various rabi crops and to encourage the active involvement of young farmers in various extension activities conducted by FASC, Tarn Taran.
Dr. Parvinder Singh, Incharge, FASC, Tarn Taran, discussed the role of PNKS members in the adoption and dissemination of new PAU technologies. Further, he shared the cultivation practices for raising summer vegetables at home as well as commercial scale.
Dr. Parminder Kaur, SES (Plant Pathology), provided an overview of the current scenario of insect pests and diseases in rabi crops, highlighting the challenges faced by farmers in the region. She explained the significant impact of pests and diseases such as pink stem borer, armyworm, aphids, yellow rust, karnal bunt and other common issues affecting wheat crop. Farmers were also guided about the judicious use of agrochemicals in crops.
Dr. Savreet Khehra, DES (Fruits), discussed the need of nutrition garden to meet the dietary requirements. Further, information was provided about care of fruit plant during the winter season and planting of deciduous fruit plants.
Dr. Parminder Singh Sandhu, DES (Agronomy), discussed integrated weed management strategies for various rabi crops. He stressed the farmers for proper use of fertilizers and correct nozzle for optimal growth and yield. He also advised the farmers to avoid over fertilization which can harm the environment and reduce profitability.
