Mega event “Swatch Soch Swatch University” held

Chandigarh, November 20, 2018: Department of Art History and Visual Arts organised a mega event “Swatch Soch Swatch University” to sensitise the faculty students, staff members, and research scholars about the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, that has been initiated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event was coordinated by the Chairperson of the Department Dr.Tirthankar Bhattacharya. Mr.Anil Thakur, Divisional Engineer (Horticulture), Panjab University spoke about different aspects of cleaning and hygiene ranging from personal to community and sensitised the audience about biodegradable and non biodegradable wastes and the need of waste segregation and management. Blue and green dustbins, brooms and other cleaning equipment were distributed to the students and explained about waste management. Mosquito repellents and toilet cleaning products were handed over to the cleaners. Later the faculty, staff members and students did a cleaning session of the premises of the department and museum of fine arts. The department has an active Swatch Bharat committee to regularly clean the premises.
