Chandigarh, March 15, 2022: City's entrepreneur MK Bhatia with city film makers viz Suresh Malik, Naresh Goswami, Amar Gaibi, Naval Kishore, Anurag Sharma again raised the demand for Film City at the launch of the Mits Entertainment Company.
Film City was planned in Chandigarh in 2007 and again in 2014 but without any positive outcome.
Bhatia said that in 2014, MP Kirron Kher had thrown the administration into chaos by asking the UT administration for land for a film city in the city. Kher wants Chandigarh to be a film city.
The officials, who are finalizing the draft of the master plan of Chandigarh, are yet to make a provision of space in the master plan for the film city.
The project of Film City was made in Chandigarh about seven years ago in 2007 and due to the cancellation of this project surrounded by controversies, in 2014 also the administration officials could not accept the request of the MP for Film City in the city.
Bhatia is actually dreaming of a film city with the youth of the city of Chandigarh and he wants that instead of going to Mumbai and struggling, the youth of Chandigarh should get the full professional environment of the films and the youth make their successful career in films here in Chandigarh itself.
Bhatia said that there is a culture of theatre in Chandigarh for the last 60 years, but due to the lack of infrastructure, the best actors here are unable to give direction to their career by struggling in Mumbai, that is why they have laid the foundation of Mits Entertainment Company. The first film Udti Chidiya will be made under company banner which will be made only in Chandigarh and will be shot on the location of Chandigarh with the artists of Chandigarh so that the dream of all the artists of Chandigarh region will be fulfilled.
Today MK Bhatia, Suresh Malik, Naresh Goswami, Amar Gaibi, Naval Kishore, Anurag Sharma had gone to give the memorandum.
