Mental health issues need to be addressed and taken care of, advices DMCH Doc
The week is being observed amidst the unprecedented Covid19 crisis
Ludhiana: Mental Health issues are considered very secretive and in our society, it is still considered a taboo to discuss and treat such disorders with expert psychiatrists. Many people believe that if they are put on medication by psychiatrist, they will be all along dependent on the medicine.
In view of this, ‘World Mental Health Week’ is being organized which calls people to come openly for their mental health problems and get treatment accordingly, advises Associate Professor of Psychiatry, DMCH- Dr Rupesh Chaudhary.
The week is being observed amidst the unprecedented COVID19 crisis. All people must have access to the quality mental health services they need, when and where they need them, without any financial distress”, says Dr Chaudhary.
He highlighted, “One in four people are affected by mental disorders and every 40 seconds, a life is lost to suicide. Prevention, diagnosing and treatment of mental illness for welfare of people should have an easy access to care and the global economy should invest more in the provision of affordable mental health care services in the community”.
