Mid-day meal worker sanctioned honorarium for last four months till November: Govind Thakur

Dharamsala, December 13, 2021: Education Minister Govind Thakur said that the pending honorarium of the last four till November has been released to the mid-day meal workers working in the state. He said that it has been delayed due to non-receipt of funds from the Center. The Education Minister gave this information in the House on Monday in response to the Attention Motion moved by CPIM MLA Rakesh Singha under Rule 62. He said that at present 20 889 mid-day meal workers are employed in the state.
He said that this is a central scheme and the scheme is running in 10 thousand 739 primary schools and 4788 middle schools in the state. 503456 children are benefiting from this. At the beginning of this scheme, running in the ratio of 90:10 with the cooperation of the central and state government, one thousand honorarium was given to the mid day meal workers in which rs900 were given by central and 100 rupees were given by the state government. Gradually their honorarium was increased and at present their honorarium has been increased to Rs 2600. He said that there is a provision to give honorarium to these workers only for ten months in a year. However, MLA Singha also demanded 12 months' honorarium for them, on which the Education Minister told that at present there is a system to give honorarium for 10 months only under this scheme. He assured the House that it would definitely be considered in future. He also assured that there should be no further delay in the honorarium of the mid-day meal worker.
