Milk Drinking, Best Turban, painting competition and blood donation camp on Shaheed Bhagat Singh's birth anniversary (Sep 28)
To celebrate the birth anniversary of the legendary martyr Shaheed Bhagat Singh on a large scale (anti drug day), the district administration will organize a milk drinking competition, best turban competition, painting competition, and a blood donation camp at Punjab Agricultural University on September 28.. The aim is to encourage youngsters to stay away from drugs and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Ludhiana, September 20, 2024: To celebrate the birth anniversary of the legendary martyr Shaheed Bhagat Singh on a large scale (anti drug day), the district administration will organize a milk drinking competition, best turban competition, painting competition, and a blood donation camp at Punjab Agricultural University on September 28.. The aim is to encourage youngsters to stay away from drugs and promote a healthy lifestyle.
At a meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) held at Bachat Bhawan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Major Amit Sareen announced the details. In the Milk Drinking competition, participants will have to drink as many bottles of Verka milk as they can in 30 seconds. The top five winners will be selected, with the first-place winner receiving a cash reward of Rs 2100 and the other four receiving gifts and books.
Similarly, the best Turban Competition (saffron-colored turban only) will also take place on the same day at PAU to honour Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ji's birth anniversary. One has to wear a turban like Shaheed Bhagat Singh's style. The top five winners will be selected, with the first-place winner (best turban) receiving a cash reward of Rs 2100 and the other four receiving gifts and books.
Registration for both competitions will be open from Monday to Wednesday (Sep 23 to Sep 25) from 9 am to 5 pm. The interested participants in the age group of 20-35 can register by calling the numbers 6283392348 and 9878612105. Only the first 50 registrations for both boys and girls will be eligible for the competitions.
A blood donation camp will be organized at PAU on the occasion, along with a painting competition based on the life of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Additionally, a Cycle Rally from Mall road to Fortis Hospital, Chandigarh road on Sep 29 will be organized to honour the legendary martyr and give a msessge against the drugs.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for everyone to follow in the footsteps of Shaheed Bhagat Singh to make Punjab a drug-free state. He urged collective efforts to eliminate the drug menace from society, stating that it is the biggest hurdle in realizing the dreams of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and our freedom fighters who fought tirelessly for the country's independence from British imperialism. He urged people to join hands with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led state government in its endeavour to wipe out drug abuse from society, which will be a befitting tribute to our youth icons Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.
