Chandigarh, March 28: Dr Vineet Saggar Senior Consultant Neuro and Spine surgery and Head Interventional and Minimally invasive Spine Surgery at Ivy Hospital, Mohali has performed a minimally invasive spine surgery at Ivy Hospital, Mohali recently.
Sharing details during a press conference at Chandigarh Press Club on Monday, Dr Saggar said that a 65 years old male patient was presented to us with severe back pain. The pain was so severe that the patient couldn’t even sit and was unable to sleep for the past 2 days, said Dr. Saggar.
The patient’s MRI revealed multiple fractures in the spine at L2, L3 and L5 Vertebrae.
Considering his old age and multiple fractures, it was decided to operate him via minimally invasive spine surgery using percutaneous screws and vertebroplasty for L5 vertebrae, informed Dr. Saggar.
The patient is now perfectly fine and enjoying his normal life.
Dr Saggar further informed that among the benefits of minimally invasive spine surgery are less damage to muscles and soft tissue, less pain after surgery, shorter hospital stay and quicker recovery and return to daily activities.
