Reiterating that the Punjab Government has always been stood firmly by the farmers, Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal on Saturday today checked paddy procurement in Kohara grain market.

Ludhiana, October 26, 2024: Reiterating that the Punjab Government has always been stood firmly by the farmers, Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal on Saturday today checked paddy procurement in Kohara grain market. 

The Cabinet Minister stated that as many as 18 lakh metric tons paddy was expected to arrival in the grain markets in Ludhiana adding that the state government is committed to procure every grain of the produce because it is the fruit of six months of hard work of the farmers. “Punjab Government has made all out arrangements for the smooth and uninterrupted procurement of paddy crops in all the Mandis of the state”, he mentioned. 

Mundian added that there is sufficient availability of gunny bags besides proper arrangements for lifting and payment are already in place at all the purchase centers where farmers are getting the payment of their produce within stipulated time-frame. 

Mundian also appealed to the farmers not to set fire crop residue in the fields and bring only dry produce to the mandis for easy and hassle-free procurement. He also interacted with the representatives of Arhtiya Association and officials of various procurement agencies. 

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal said that the district administration will leave no stone unturned to facilitate farmers during procurement operations. 

The DC further added that as many as 478716.1 metric tons paddy has been arrived of which 434932.5 MT has been procured. Around 25875 MT paddy has been lifted in last 24-hours and payments worth Rs 969.5 crore have also been made to the farmers. 

Jorwal further informed that all the officials have been asked to ensure timely procurement, lifting and payment of crops as any kind of laxity in this task would be dealt with heavy hands.
