Mission Fateh: 203 new cases, 10 deaths reported in Ludhiana district in last 24 hours

Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Sharma today informed that under the “Mission Fateh” of the Punjab government, the number of COVID 19 patients getting cured in district Ludhiana is increasing with each passing day. He said that there are 1214 active patients in the district at present.

    He said that sincere efforts are being made to keep people safe from Covid 19. He said that a total of 203 patients (193 new patients from district Ludhiana and 10 from other states/districts) have tested positive in last 24 hours time.

    He further said that till date, a total of 63740 samples have been taken, out of which report of 61509 samples has been received, of 57620 samples is negative and report of 2231 samples is pending. He said that now, the total number of patients related to Ludhiana is 3439, while 450 patients are related to other districts/states.

    He said that unfortunately 10 patients lost their lives today, which include 9 from Ludhiana while 1 from other district/state. Now, the total number of persons who lost their lives include 97 people from Ludhiana and 41 from other districts have lost their lives.

    He informed that till date, 22084 persons have been kept under home quarantine in the district and at present, the number of such persons is 4314. Today, 393 persons were sent for home quarantine.

    He said that whenever District Administration and Health Department Ludhiana finds out that about any positive or suspected COVID 19 person, their samples are immediately sent for testing. Similarly, 1158 samples of suspected patients were sent for testing today and their results are expected shortly.

    Mr Sharma appealed to the residents to follow all directions of the Punjab government and if they would stay indoors, they would not only stay safe themselves, but would also contribute in keeping everyone around safe.

 

Shops and shopping malls to remain open from 7 am to 8 pm for rakhsha bandhan/rakhri tomorrow: DC

Ludhiana: District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma have issued orders that on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan/Rakhri, shops and shopping malls falling in district Ludhiana would remain open from 7 am to 8 pm on August 2, 2020. In the orders issued today, he said that in view of the Covid 19 pandemic, all persons are advised not to create huge rush in the markets and should restrict from travelling in the interest of their family members. He also directed all sweet shop/bakery owners and those selling rakhi’s to distribute two masks along with these items.
