Pune: Mitsubishi Electric, a leading electric and electronic equipment company keeping with its endeavor to give back to the community, has decided to continue its Corporate Social Responsibility activity in Pune. As a responsible corporate, the company strives to support the society and surroundings of Pune with its various sustainability initiatives. Pune, is a hub for education, heavy engineering and technology companies, and amongst one of the fastest growing cities in India.  Mitsubishi Electric India’s CSR journey in Pune started in the year 2015, with tree plantation and since then, the company has been showing stronger commitment to the region in alignment with its business mission and its huge base of approx.277 employees working in Pune.
 
In financial year 2018-2019, Mitsubishi Electric India announced its CSR strategy that aligns not only with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but also with Government of India initiatives such as Jal Shakti Abhiyaan, National Rural Health Mission, Nation Green Mission of India, thereby covering SDGs such as Clean Drinking Water & Sanitation, Good Health & Well-being and Climate Action.
 
In the city of Pune, the company has aligned all its three CSR programs for benefit of the society.
 
•    Clean and Cold Drinking Water Facility: The activity provided clean & cold drinking water facility in three government schools. The clean drinking water ecosystem will have RO, water cooler, water tank, and water drinking bay for the students of ZP school Parndwadi, ZP school Adhe, and ZP school Aadlhe Budruk in Tahsil Maval, Pune. The company also continued to support the annual maintenance of clean drinking water facility for three government schools, ZP Ghanuje School, ZP Sangwade School, Gram Prabodhini School, Tahsil Maval, Pune which were supported as a part of CSR initiative in 2019. The total number of schools provided with clean and cold drinking water by Mitsubishi Electric India will be 6 schools, impacting lives of 940 number of students.

•    General Health Awareness Camp: A camp was organized at two locations, Aladhe Budruk & Adhe at Tahsil Maval, Pune. The idea of setting health check-up at these locations was to invite residents from nearby areas such as Urse, Ozarade, Shivane, Bore, Done, Ovale, Adale Khurd, Divad, Pusane etc. and to help them with a general health screening and spread awareness of good health and a fit body. To provide the best check-up to the residents, the camps were serviced by 30 doctors, 10 medical staff & 40 volunteers. The doctors and Mitsubishi Electric India volunteers received enthusiastic response from the residents who went through the general health check-up for Hypertension, Preliminary Diabetes, Pulse, etc. The activity also provided vitamins and medicines to people who needed medication. A total number of 325 people were benefitted by this initiative.

•    Tree Plantation Activity: The company has been doing this activity at TELCO Road, Bhosari, since 2015 and every year plants trees and maintains them through the year. This year we have planted approximately 1000 saplings under this program.
 
Mr. Hisahiro Nishimoto, Director and Division Manager, Factory Automation & Industrial Division, Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd. elucidated the significance of such CSR initiatives and said, “We have a strong presence in Pune because of our Factory Automation and Industrial Division’s strong workforce, manufacturing facility and R&D Center. Such sustainability activity is a sincere effort from our side to support the society in ways which will lead to its overall development. Our business and philanthropic activities have been consistent in Pune since 2015, and as a company we are committed to the overall development of the city and its surrounding areas, and we will keep supporting in the small ways possible."
