MLA Gogi, DC and MC Chief inaugurate first of its kind Shivalay - SPCA health centre for stray animals
In a first of its kind initiative in the state, Ludhiana West MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi inaugurated Shivalay - the SPCA health centre for stray animals - established in the animal birth control (ABC) centre of Municipal Corporation (MC) in Haibowal dairy complex on Hambran road.
Ludhiana, December 6, 2023: In a first of its kind initiative in the state, Ludhiana West MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi inaugurated Shivalay - the SPCA health centre for stray animals - established in the animal birth control (ABC) centre of Municipal Corporation (MC) in Haibowal dairy complex on Hambran road.
Deputy Commissioner (Additional charge) Kulwant Singh and MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi were also part of the inauguration ceremony held on Wednesday. ADC Amit Sareen, Social activist Anmol Kwatra among others were also present on the occasion.
The health centre has been established for providing treatment to the injured stray animals. The facility would be run in association with Society For Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
Appreciating the efforts being put in by Sunil Kumar and Pooja Jain from SPCA, MLA Gogi stated that it is first of its kind facility in the state and first animal health centre of the state has been established in Ludhiana west constituency. As many as 19 kennels have also been allocated for sheltering the stray animals in the health centre. Four ambulances have also been deployed for lifting the stray animals from city roads. The ambulances were also flagged off by MLA Gogi during the event. Veterinary doctors from animal husbandry department will treat the injured animals.

Appreciating the efforts of district administration, police, MC and animal husbandry department in supporting the initiative, MLA Gogi said that this initiative will not only help the stray animals, but will also help in reducing the road accidents which occur due to injured animals.
MLA Gogi said that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is committed for the overall development of the state. They are also working to establish a veterinary hospital in dairy complex to faciliate the dairy owners in getting proper treatment for the animals.
MLA Gogi, members of SPCA and social activist Anmol Kwatra further appealed the residents to come forward for donating food, blankets etc for the stray animals at the centre. MLA Gogi also appealed the residents to adopt stray dogs.
