MLA Gogi, MC Chief inaugurate North India's first 'Dog Park' in BRS Nagar
Agility and training equipment, swimming pool among other games have been installed for the pet dogs in the park
Ludhiana, September 4, 2023: In a unique initiative taken for the welfare of pet dogs and dog lovers, Ludhiana West MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi and Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Sandeep Rishi inaugurated North India's first 'Dog Park' in the city on Monday.
The 'Dog Park' has been established in Block-D of Bhai Randhir Singh (BRS) Nagar (backside Baba Ishar Singh Public School).
The civic body authorities stated that it is the third park in the country and the first such park in North India. The first two parks are established in Mumbai and Hyderabad. It is a premier park established to facilitate the pet dogs and their parents/dog lovers.
MLA Gogi and MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi stated that apart from agility and training equipment including hurdles, tunnels, and obedience training areas to help dogs develop their skills and stay mentally/physically active, the authorities have established a state of art swimming pool among other exercises.
MC Joint Commissioner Kulpreet Singh and Senior Veterinary Officer Dr Harbans Dhalla stated that a Pet cafe, Pet boarding, pet grooming among other facilities would also be commenced in the park soon. Dr Dhalla stated that the dog parks are established in foreign countries and this project has been conceptualised on the same lines. The park has been established by the Hyderabad based contractor Dr Dog Pet Hospital and the contractor will maintain the park.
The park will remain open from 6am to 11pm and only a nominal fee of Rs 40 would be charged from the pet parents for using the facility.
MLA Gogi stated that it is first of its kind dog park in North India. The park offers a safe and stimulating environment for dogs to socialize, exercise, and play freely, leading to happier and healthier pets. Pet parents can enjoy quality bonding time with their dogs in a serene and spacious facility.
MLA Gogi said that no expenditure has been done by the civic body for establishing the dog park. The expenditure has been done by the contractor and MC will rather earn revenue from this project.
MLA Gogi said that this will also help the residents to keep their pet dogs healthy and they appeal the residents to use the facility and take benefit of the same at large.
MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, Joint Commissioner Ankur Mahindroo, Zonal Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon, AAP leaders Amrit Varsha Rampal, Gurpreet Singh Bedi, Gurkaran Tinna, Manish Shah, Sonu Bengali among others were also present on the occasion.
