MLA Prashar, MC Chief inspect ongoing project to cover Dharampura nullah; project to be completed within three months

Working to develop quality infrastructure and for providing major relief to the residents, Ludhiana Central MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi alongwith Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal inspected the ongoing work to cover Dharampura nullah (from Shingar cinema road till Gaughat cremation ground) and issued necessary directions for expediting the works.

Ludhiana, March 29, 2025: Working to develop quality infrastructure and for providing major relief to the residents, Ludhiana Central MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi alongwith Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal inspected the ongoing work to cover Dharampura nullah (from Shingar cinema road till Gaughat cremation ground) and issued necessary directions for expediting the works.

The civic body has got the project designed from the experts of IIT Roorkee and around 250 meter of the nullah stretch has to be covered under the project. Retaining walls and concrete base of the nullah would also be constructed under the project which is being taken up at a cost of around Rs 9.50 crore. Superintending Engineer (SE) Ranjit Singh among other officials were also present during the inspection.

MLA Prashar said that the residents have been demanding this project for a long time, but the previous governments did not pay heed to the issue. He stated that this project will not only give a cleaner look to the area, but will also help in streamlining the movement of traffic. The project would be completed within three months and it will provide major relief to the residents. 

MLA Prashar added that another project is being taken up wherein a flood gate would be established at 'Buddha Dariya' point near cremation ground to stop water accumulation in Dharampura and nearby areas during rainy season. 

MLA Prashar said that like Shivaji Nagar nullah, the Dharampura nullah would also be covered and this will also help in further development of the area. Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government is working to develop quality infrastructure across the state and in that course, a large number of development projects are being taken up in Ludhiana Central constituency.
