MLA Sidhu inaugurates major project worth Rs 78 lakh to widen Dugri canal bridge; project will streamline movement of traffic at large
Fulfilling the promise made to the residents before Vidhan sabha elections, Atam Nagar MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu inaugurated the major project to widen the Dugri canal bridge on Thursday.
Ludhiana, November 21,2024: Fulfilling the promise made to the residents before Vidhan sabha elections, Atam Nagar MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu inaugurated the major project to widen the Dugri canal bridge on Thursday.
The project worth Rs 78 lakh is being taken up under smart city mission and one side of the Dugri canal bridge (from Dugri area towards Atam Nagar police post) would be widened under the project.
MLA Sidhu stated that the width of the particular side of the canal bridge would be increased to 10-12 feet under this project and this would be a major relief for the commuters.
MLA Sidhu said that currently the narrow width of the bridge causes traffic snarls and he had made a promise to the residents to widen the bridge before Vidhan sabha elections. The promise has now been fulfilled as the work to widen the bridge has now started.
The inauguration ceremony was performed in presence of the members of Dugri market association and residents of the nearby areas. MC Superintending Engineer Sanjay Kanwar among other officials were also present on the occasion.
MLA Sidhu said that the movement of traffic on the canal bridge would not be hit due to construction works and widening of this bridge would provide a major relief to the residents in terms of traffic snarls.
MLA Sidhu further said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led state government has been working for overall development and all the aspects are being covered to facilitate the residents at large. Projects worth crores are also being taken up in Atam nagar constituency to develop quality infrastructure.
