MoA signed for incubation of roasting and grinding of nuts between ICAR-CIPHET and Navnoor Kaur

Ludhiana, February 15, 2022: The Agri-Business Incubation (ABI) program is an initiative of ICAR for facilitating incubation of new startups/entrepreneurs & enterprises for innovative/commercial/potential technologies by providing need based physical, technical, business and networking support and ICAR-CIPHET Ludhiana also provides incubation services for the selected technologies and Ludhiana based young and dynamic entrepreneur Ms. Navnoor Kaur, Founder & Creative Director of JaggerCane start-up approached for roasting and grinding of nuts to produce value added products from jaggery. Jaggery is a healthier sweetener as well as medicinal sugar rich in vitamins and minerals, finding its use in Ayurvedic medicine as a blood purifier and also used for curing infections and can be a good replacer of sugar and other artificial sweeteners in many applications. Indian jaggery industry is the largest unorganized sector which has been one of the most ancient and important rural-based cottage industries in the country. A MoA for incubation of roasting and grinding of nuts was signed between ICAR-CIPHET and Ms. Navnoor Kaur on 15 Feb 2022. Dr.Nachiket Kotwaliwale (Director ICAR- CIPHET), with the CIPHET team including Dr. Ranjeet Singh (PI ABI), Dr. D.N. Yadav (I/c Head ToT), Dr. Renu Balakrishnan, (I/c ITMU) and Er. Alka Sharma (RA) were present on the occasion. Ms. Navnoor Kaur will manufacture different types of value added crunchy jaggery crumbs. Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale assured him that all possible help will be extended for establishment of agribusiness unit and start-up after successful completion of incubation.
