Mock drill on fire safety and awareness
A mock drill on fire safety and awareness was conducted by Security Office of Panjab University, Chandigarh for the employees of the University. The officials from Fire Department, UT, Chandigarh were invited to guide the staff regarding safety measures to be followed in case of fire.
Chandigarh, January 19, 2024: A mock drill on fire safety and awareness was conducted by Security Office of Panjab University, Chandigarh for the employees of the University. The officials from Fire Department, UT, Chandigarh were invited to guide the staff regarding safety measures to be followed in case of fire.
Vikram Singh, Chief of University Security, PU informed that the objective of this drill is to create awareness amongst the employees to handle the fire related emergency in the University. He further informed that as now a days people use a lot of gadgets, general public must know the proper use of gadgets at their respective places to avoid any incident.
Naresh, Fire Officer, Sector-11, Chandigarh and his team members conducted the drill. Prior to that, he shared the types and cause of fire and how to extinguish the different types of fire. He also shared various important precautions to avoid the incidents of fire in our surroundings. He also got the university staff to operate some fire extinguishers.
Prof. Y.P. Verma, Registrar, appreciated the efforts taken by CUS and advised that this should be conducted regularly.
Prof. Jagat Bhushan, Controller of Examination, Prof. Namita Gupta, Director, Public Relations, Dr. Parveen Goyal, Coordinator, NSS, A.K.Rai, XEN along with various staff of the University attended the drill.
