Model Vending Zone inaugurated at Temple Road, McLeodganj - Dharamshala's First by Municipal Corporation

The Municipal Corporation of Dharamshala has inaugurated its first "Model Vending Zone" at Temple Road, McLeodganj, marking a new milestone in the city. In an allotment ceremony held Tuesday, the vending zone, built to provide organized business spaces for local vendors, was handed over to 21 selected vendors.

Dharamshala, October 29, 2024: The Municipal Corporation of Dharamshala has inaugurated its first "Model Vending Zone" at Temple Road, McLeodganj, marking a new milestone in the city. In an allotment ceremony held Tuesday, the vending zone, built to provide organized business spaces for local vendors, was handed over to 21 selected vendors. 

The event saw the presence of Municipal Corporation Mayor Neenu Sharma, Deputy Mayor Tejender Kaur, Councilor Joginder Jaggi, Omkar Nehria, Shri Anurag, Commissioner Zafar Iqbal, Joint Commissioner Surender Katoch, and numerous local vendors.

Municipal Commissioner Zafar Iqbal highlighted that the long-pending project, which includes the construction of 21 shops, was completed in time for the festive season of Diwali. This new vending zone aims to offer a well-organized space that will support the livelihood of local street vendors, enhance visitor experience, and maintain the area’s aesthetics and cleanliness.

Officials expressed hope that the establishment of the vending zone would boost local employment, provide sustainable income opportunities, and contribute to Dharamshala’s economic growth. It is expected that this step will help increase tourism by offering a clean, attractive space for vendors to operate, thereby benefiting the entire community.
