Modi Government has dictatorial attitude in democratic country: Fatehgarh Sahib MP Dr Amar Singh
Says would raise farmers issues in upcoming Budget session of Parliament
Ludhiana: While taking aim at the Narendra Modi led Union government, Dr Amar Singh, MP, Shri Fatehgarh Sahib today said, “It’s sad that their government is keeping a dictatorial attitude in a democratic country like India. The farmers are protesting on the streets against the three farm laws whereas all Congress MPs would raise their issues inside the Parliament,” while addressing the media persons at Circuit House, here today.
He said the Union Government was so scared of the farmer's movement that ironically it did not call the winter session of Parliament, when the number of Covid 19 cases were low, whereas when it was to pass these three farm laws, they specially convened a parliament session in September 2020, when the Covid 19 cases were high. “This clearly shows the kind of thinking the Union government has towards the farmers,” rued Dr Amar Singh.
He said the recent events of Ghazipur border proved that the Kisan movement is a massive Jan Andolan and it will continue till the black farm laws are repealed. He further stressed that the events of January 26, 2021, were attempts by the Union government to discredit a very peaceful movement and to try and weaken it by portraying it wrongly.
Dr Amar Singh said he would protest as much as he can inside the Parliament as he had done when the laws were first introduced and that the farmer's movement was now a movement of citizens against a government trying to promote certain corporations against the will of the vast majority of Indians.
He said that Governments are formed by the people and that governments must enact laws that the people want rather than forcing laws promoting vested commercial interests on them. He alleged that the Union government has failed to generate enough jobs for the youth and it could be gauged fro the fact that the unemployment in India is at an all time high of 10%. He said that when the entire world was providing monetary benefits to its citizens during the lockdown due to Covid 19, the Narendra Modi government did nothing for its citizens. He said that even China has illegally encroached upon our soil, but the Prime Minister seems least concerned to address this issue, he questioned.
He welcomed Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s decision for calling an all-party meeting on February 2, 2021, to evolve a consensus on the way forward on the issue of the Farm Laws and the farmers’ agitation in the light of the recent developments in Delhi.
He said this meeting will discuss the situation arising out of the recent developments in the ongoing farmers’ agitation in Delhi, especially in view of the Republic day violence, the Singhu border attack on farmers, and the massive vilification campaign against them.
He also urged the Punjab BJP leaders to not stand on ego but to come together to save our state and our people.
