More than 400 school students and about 50 teachers tested covid positive in one month in Kangra district

Dharamsala, October 29, 2021: The chief medical officer of Kangra district, Dr Gurdarshan Gupta said that more than 400 school students and about 50 teachers have been tested Covid positive in the last one month in Kangra, the highly populated district of HP. The testing in schools was started from 27th of September 2021.
The count was 362 students and 49 teachers since yesterday whereas 46 more students are tested positive today and few more reports are awaited.
"We are worried about the increasing number of students and teachers which is a major concern for us. We have conducted testing in 161 schools of Kangra district. For this reason the education department has increased Diwali holidays and decided to close all schools for a weeklong time" told Dr. Gupta. A 13-year-old girl student died of the infection in Kangra on October 21. She reportedly caught the infection after attending a wedding. The district health authorities said the girl had not been attending school since October 12. Her family sought medical help only after her condition deteriorated.
Dr Gurdarshan informed that from the outbreak of corona to till date Kangra District registered 50732 positive cases out of which 48751 recovered, whereas 855 cases are still active in the district. He said that 1122 people lost their lives till today due to this deadly virus.
