Jalandhar, August 28, 2024: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised the 10th meeting of Academic Council. The   meeting   was   chaired   by   Prof. (Dr.) Atima   Sharma   Dwivedi,  Principal KMV and was graced by acclaimed luminaries as members. 

Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala, Dr. Vasudha Sambyal, Professor, Department of Human Genetics, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Dr. Rajinder Kaur, Professor, Department of Botanical & Environment Science, GNDU, Amritsar, Dr. Deepa Sikand Kauts,  Professor, Department of Education, GNDU, Amritsar, Dr. Renu Bharadwaj, Professor, Department of Botanical & Environmental   Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Dr. Umesh Kumar, Scientist F, Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, along with the Deans and Heads of Departments of KMV provided  their valuable inputs as members of Academic Council. 

Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi informed the house that the institution is achieving new heights and covering new milestones by ushering in a new era of progressive quality education and introducing multiple academic reforms to provide global standards in Higher Education for the students of the region. These initiatives are path-breaking educational reforms, in sync with the New Education Policy 2020 of Govt. of India. She further maintained that KMV stands as a beacon of excellence, a role model for other educational establishments as at KMV, we are committed to fostering an environment where innovation, critical thinking, and academic rigour are the cornerstones of our educational philosophy. Our curriculum is meticulously designed to align with international benchmarks, ensuring that our students are well-prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities of a globalised world. The progress of the college under the autonomy was appreciated by the Academic Council members. The major decision undertaken during the meet was introduction of four years Honours degree Programme in sync with New Education Policy of Govt. of India. It is noteworthy that KMV is already running 26 undergraduate, 21 postgraduate programs, 5 diploma courses and 28 certificate courses. It was also approved that all the undergraduate programmes are to be passed with 30% internal assessment which is also another student friendly examination reform introduced by KMV. It is pertinent to mention that KMV will allow students to pursue two undergraduate degrees simultaneously provided they fulfil the conditions specified by UGC. Moreover, students can also transfer their MOOCs credit to their total credits which will provide them an international standing. 

Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that these reforms which meet global standards will help the students to gain an edge and will assist them to get assimilated in the global education system. She lauded the efforts of all the members of Academic Council.
