Chandigarh, May 13, 2023: As a tribute to Mothers on the eve of Mother's day, Sahayak Gurukul, an organisation which aims to spread awareness about the importance of investments and financial literacy, collaborated with CII Indian Women Network (CII-IWN) to organize ‘Investing in Motherhood – Maa Tujhe Salaam’, a financial literacy programme for Mothers at Hyatt Regency here .
The event was held to mark Mother’s Day in a befitting way. The session on money management, aimed at spreading financial literacy and helping mothers manage their money intelligently.
Sandeep Sahni, Founder, Sahayak Gurukul, said, “I believe that women are better investors than men because they are more disciplined and patient in their approach towards money and they think in the long term. Research and surveys support this fact. Women mostly invest in bank FDs, gold jewellery, etc., however they should also try Mutual Funds and SIPs (systematic investment plans) as these are very promising options available these days.Through the power of compounding they can grow their money exponentially.”
Nagina Bains, Chairperson, CII – IWN, said that the programme was immensely useful for mothers as they have the burden of planning for their children and families. Moreover, women tend to save money for future needs and emergencies. But, here they were exposed to new methods of investments.
The participating women were told about how they should also consider their own Financial Independence and to invest their money wisely so that a good corpus is created for children, family needs, and retirement.
A panel discussion was also held on money lessons from mothers and money mantras for children. The panel had some reputed names like Kavita Das, ex-principal of St John’s School; Garima Singh, Special Secretary, Finance in Punjab; Dr Preeti Jindal, Director, Touch Clinic; and Sejal Singla, Entrepreneur and Investor. Neepa Sharma moderated the discussion.
Sahni, an alumnus of IIM Lucknow, conducted the wealth creation session. All the participants were given personalized gifts also at the end of the session. Under the ‘Money Aspirations of Gen Z’, a conversation between Dhairya and his mom Mrs Shikha Khaira was also one of the highlights of the event.
