MoU between LPU and Russian University is part of 28 Agreements signed during President Putin’s visit to India

Jalandhar, December 10, 2021: An historically important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Lovely Professional University (LPU) of India and Russia’s Southern Federal University (SFedU), as a part of 28 Government to Government (G2G), commercial and other agreements/MoUs signed during His Excellency, President of Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin’s recent visit to India. This collaboration is for academic and research activities, exchange of academic information, and students & faculty exchange programmes. The MoU is mentioned in the Ministry of External Affairs’ (Government of India) transcript of ‘Special Media Briefing by Foreign Secretary’ made on 21st India-Russia Annual Summit held in New Delhi.

President of Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin was in New Delhi for important talks with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. President Putin’s visit to India indicates the importance he attaches to the bilateral relationship between the two countries, where LPU-SFedU MoU also existed as an important part. LPU is the only private university of India which got prestigious Russian collaboration during international summit of these two high profiled leaders. The diversity of more than a score of agreements and MoU signed shows the multifaceted nature of bilateral partnership of the countries and the institutions.

Expressing immense happiness on the MoU devised on an international moment, LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal shared: “His Excellency Mr Putin’s affection for India signifies the importance for two countries. I personally feel that this connection between the two universities will also prove to be of great significance in carrying on this relationship of trust and progress.”
