MP Arora assures Cycle industry to urge upon NHAI for setting up cycle lanes
Stressing upon the need of cycle lanes in Ludhiana and other parts of the state, AAP MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora has stated that he will be taking up this matter with the NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) chairman on June 5.
Ludhiana, June 4, 2023: Stressing upon the need of cycle lanes in Ludhiana and other parts of the state, AAP MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora has stated that he will be taking up this matter with the NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) chairman on June 5.
Adding, he said, “I shall urge upon the NHAI chairman to try to make as cycle lanes on not only in Ludhiana but also in whole of Punjab where ever it is feasible.” Arora was addressing 2nd AICMA (All India Cycle Manufacturers’ Association) Awards Ceremony held here on Saturday on `World Bicycle Day’. Vijay Munjal, Group Chairman, Hero Eco, SK Rai, Managing Director, Hero Cycles Ltd and Tejvinder Singh of Big-Ben Group (JSTS) were among those who were awarded on the occasion.
Further, speaking on the occasion, Arora spoke about the importance of cycling for ensuring better environment, health and vehicular traffic. He said time has come when we are to make cycling more popular across the country. He requested Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Surabhi Malik and Municipal Commissioner Dr Shena Aggarwal to ensure that city becomes “cycle-friendly”.
“I hope that next time, AICMA will award both these lady officers for making Ludhiana cycle-friendly”, he said. He further hoped that District Administration will accept his suggestion as a challenge because both of the lady officers like to take up challenging jobs.
Congratulating to the industrialists who were awarded at the function, Arora said everyone present deserves award because of their entrepreneurship hence making it tough for Award Committee of AICMA to decide names of awardees.
Arora said so far only 10 percent population is the customer of bicycle industry, therefore, there is a lot of scope for the industry to grow in India. He said it more important to find that how to further popularise cycling in the country, adding that this can be possible only if there is enough infrastructure for the same.
