MP Arora reassures to set up exhibition center at Ludhiana
Visits GMMSA Expo India-2024 on third day today
Ludhiana, January 21, 2024: MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora visited GMMSA Expo India-2024 on third day today.
The expo is being organised by Garments Machinery Manufacturers and Suppliers Association from January 19-22 at Dana Mandi, Bahadur Ke Road, Ludhiana. Spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing, printing, embroidery, finishing linking, laser cutting and packaging, dyes, chemicals yarns-allied machines and accessories are being displayed in this expo.
After visiting the expo, Arora in an informal interaction with the media persons said the expo is most prestigious platform under one roof to provide every solution to every small and large problem in every segment of garmenting with further upgradation of prevailing present systems and required replacement of technological machinery.
Adding, he highly appreciated the organisers for organising the expo where live demo of technology and machines is available, which is the 8th edition. He added this type of expo not only benefits the existing industries but at the same time also motivates visitors to start their own ventures. He hoped that the expo will be beneficial not only for the Ludhiana industry but for the industry in entire North India.
He reassured that he would make concrete efforts for the setting up of an exhibition center at Ludhiana. He again asked industrial organisations of Ludhiana to submit him a memorandum in this demand so that he might take up this matter with Punjab Government. He asked the local industry to suggest about total land required and location as well for the exhibition center. He said the setting up of an exhibition center is a dire demand of the industry.
Arora admitted that local garment industry is facing many challenges, particularly from the China manufacturers who are exporting goods at a very low prices compared to the goods manufactured in the domestic market. He said there is a need that the central government should levy more custom duty on products coming from China so that there should be a level playing ground for the domestic industry.
On a query by the media persons, Arora assured that the Halwara Airport is on last leg of construction and should be complete by March of this year.
On the occasion, Arora was honoured with a memento by the organisers.
Present on the occasion included the Garments Machinery Manufacturers and Suppliers Association president Teja Singh, chairman Ram Krishan, vice chairman Parmesh Wassist, senior vice president Gurpreet Singh, vice president Gurdev Singh and general secretary Narinder Kumar.
