MP Arora thanks NHAI for timely completion of Sherpur Chowk ROB

Ludhiana, March 1, 2023: Commuters, especially the business community, are enthused to learn that the work of under-construction Sherpur Chowk railway over bridge (RoB) has been completed and it has been made open for vehicular traffic on Tuesday onwards.

The construction of this RoB has been done timely by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

The work has been completed on a fast-track with the sincere and concrete efforts made by AAP MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora who has been constantly taking up this matter along with other projects with the NHAI authorities.

Arora has been regularly taking up NHAI issues related to Ludhiana and Punjab with the NHAI chairman. The NHAI chairman, in an official communication, had informed Arora about completion of RoB at Km 311 of the NH-44 (Sherpur Chowk) by February 28, 2023. Further, the proposal for construction of the four bridges across the Sidhwan Canal on Laddowal Bypass is also under consideration.” It may be mentioned here that Arora had also taken up the matter of construction of the four bridges across the Sidhwan Canal on Laddowal Bypass before the NHAI chairman.

Reacting over the development, Arora said, “I am grateful to the Hon’ble Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari, Secretary (RT & H) Mrs Alka Upadhyaya and Chairman Shri Santosh Kumar Yadav for acceding to my demand and fulfilling his promise of completing and opening of the Sherpur Chowk RoB as per the promises made to me”. He hoped that commuters might have felt a sigh of relief after opening of this RoB because a great inconvenience was being faced by the public and commuters at large due to this pending project. He said it was taking almost 30 minutes to cross the 500-m stretch.

Arora hoped that the work of construction of the four bridges across the Sidhwan Canal on Laddowal Bypass would also be taken up at the earliest possible. He said he has been taking matters of the larger public interest fulfilling dreams of Hon’ble Punjab Chief Minister Sh. Bhagwant Mann who is very much “development-oriented”.   

Also he hoped NHAI will keep up their date of end June for elevated road which will be a great sigh of relief for Ludhianivis

Meanwhile, Ar Sanjay Goel, Director, Ludhiana Smart City Ltd., said, “It is highly commendable that the Sherpur Chowk RoB project has been completed with sincere efforts made by Sanjeev Arora, MP,” adding that he has observed that Arora has been taking very bold steps in many more spheres for betterment of Ludhiana and Punjab. He hoped that the Centre would cooperate with Arora and the AAP-led government in the state so that public do not suffer eventually. 

Surinder Aggarwal, General Secretary, District Unit of Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal also lauded the efforts made by Arora in timely completion of Sherpur Chowk RoB. He added that had Arora not taken up this matter with the NHAI chairman and other authorities constantly then the work would have been delayed for more time. At the same time, he sought that responsibility should be fixed for those who were responsible for causing undue delay in completion of the project earlier to taking up this matter with the NHAI chairman by Arora.
