Ludhiana, April 14, 2023: Taking another initiative in the larger interest of public, AAP MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora has written to CEO of Vistara, Air India, Indigo, Air India Express, Spice Jet, Allianz Airlines, Go Air & Go First regarding flights from Ludhiana (Halwara Airport) to Delhi (IGI).
In his letter to CEOs, Arora has written that Halwara Airport (Ludhiana) terminal work is in full swing and hopefully it will be ready by the end of June 2023. He added that the coming airport is a full-fledged airport with a runway on which wide bodied aircraft can land.
Adding, Arora requested CEOs to plan schedule of planes to adjust flights to begin with from IGI Delhi to Halwara Airport.
He also wrote that Ludhiana being an industrial and educational hub, flights will surely be commercially successful.
Since his taking over as an MP, Arora has been constantly taking up the matter with concerned central ministers and authorities to ensure the speedy and timely completion of Halwara Airport. He has even paid personal visits with the concerned authorities to review the ongoing work of the construction of the airport.
Meanwhile, Arora said even Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is taking keen interest in the project, adding that in January this year the chief minister himself had also inspected the ongoing work at Civil Air terminal Halwara and asked the officers to expedite the work so that it is completed at the earliest.
Arora said the state government has already released Rs 50 crores for early completion of the work at the civil air terminal. He said the chief minister has rightly stated that this project will further put Punjab on the map of air connectivity and save time, money, and energy for the commuters. Arora added that the timely completion of the project is the need of hour to give impetus to the economic growth of the state.
Further, Arora said the project has been delayed due to the apathetic attitude of the predecessor government. Had the work been done as per the timeline then it would have been completed by March 31,2022. He added this project is a “dream project” for him as it is going to promote business and economic activities not only of Ludhiana and its surroundings but of the whole state. “I’m anxiously waiting for my dream to come true within the next coming months,” he remarked.
