MP Bittu direct officials to speed up projects, streamline traffic movement and develop sustainable infrastructure
Chairing the meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) on Tuesday, Member of Parliament (MP) Ravneet Singh Bittu directed the authorities to speed up projects, take steps to streamline movement of traffic and develop sustainable infrastructure in the city.
Ludhiana, November 7, 2023: Chairing the meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) on Tuesday, Member of Parliament (MP) Ravneet Singh Bittu directed the authorities to speed up projects, take steps to streamline movement of traffic and develop sustainable infrastructure in the city.
The meeting of DISHA was held at MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar on Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik, MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi, MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, Joint Commissioner Ankur Mahindroo, PPCB Chief Engineer Pardeep Gupta , traffic expert Rahul Verma among others were also present in the meeting.
Officials of different department including MC, Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Police, PSPCL, PWD among others participated in the meeting.
MP Bittu reviewed different projects during the meeting including the Rs 650 crore project to rejuvenate 'Buddha Dariya', projects being taken up under smart city mission among other projects.
Detailed discussions were held regarding the project to rejuvenate 'Buddha Dariya' and cover all the aspects so that visible and positive changes can be witnessed at ground level in the coming time.
Discussions were also held to streamline the movement of traffic especially during the festival season and what steps can be taken to ensure smooth movement of traffic with the elevated road (Ferozepur road) project being completed in phases. The civic body officials were directed to install LED street lights at all the dark points of the city.
During the meeting, MP Bittu also directed the PPCB officials to keep a regular check on dyeing industry dumping untreated waste in the buddha nullah and take strict steps against the violators.
Further, the civic body officials were directed to take strict action against illegal constructions and take concrete steps to improve solid waste management in the city.
After the meeting MP Bittu along with MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi also visited the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) of MC established in MC Zone D office.
Discussions were held on how the technologically advanced ICCC can be used to improve efficiency of different departments and to ensure better services to the public.
MP Bittu stated that regular meetings of DISHA are held to review the projects being taken up in the city and to discuss which projects can further be taken to further improve the infrastructure in the city.
MP Bittu further stated that the authorities have been directed to expedite all the ongoing projects in the city and complete the same within stipulated time period to facilitate the public.
