Says it will solve Punjab’s ecological problems
Raikot/Ludhiana: Dr Amar Singh, Member of Parliament from Fatehgarh Sahib while speaking in the Lok Sabha demanded that the Union Government should start procurement of cotton and Maize on the lines of the central procurement done for paddy and wheat. He demanded that it be comprehensive as is the case with wheat and paddy where every last grain of the two is procured from farmers.
He highlighted how Chief Minister Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh had already requested the Prime Minister to consider crop diversification in Punjab and that it was the need of the hour given the reducing water table and the deterioration in soil quality.
