MP Manish Tewari meets BBMB chairman regarding problems faced by Nangal traders
Hands over the memorandum submitted by the Chamber of Commerce to the Chairman
Ropar: Member Lok Sabha from Anandpur Sahib and former Union Minister Manish Tewari personally met Sanjay Srivastava, Chairman, Bhakra Beas Management Board regarding the problem of shopkeepers in Nangal and also appealed to resolve the lease issues that have been pending for nearly seven decades now. He also handed over the memorandum submitted by the Chamber of Commerce to the Chairman on this occasion.
It may be recalled that a delegation from Nangal Chamber of Commerce had met MP Tewari yesterday and had put forward their demands.
On which MP Tewari told the BBMB Chairman that the issue of lease of land of Nangal residents and shopkeepers was even older than the construction of Bhakra-Nangal Dam. However, the Chamber of Commerce's demand letter said that the premium value of the land here is too high, which can be waived or reduced, so that the shopkeepers can pay easily. There are many other similar demands. He said that he would have a meeting with the MLA from Anandpur Sahib and Speaker Punjab Legislative Assembly Rana KP Singh and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce with the BBMB officials to resolve the issue completely.
Among others, Punjab Large Industrial Development Board Chairman Pawan Dewan , Baljit Singh were also present.
