MP Manish Tewari meets Union Civil Aviation Minister

Chandigarh, March 4, 2025: MP from Chandigarh and former Union Minister Manish Tewari has met Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu and demanded recognition of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh International Airport as a ‘Point of Call’ (POC) for international airlines.

Manish Tewari said, “The Chandigarh International Airport located in Mohali, which is now called Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh International Airport, serves the states of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. A large number of people from these three states travel internationally for business as well as tourism purposes.”
He said that unfortunately Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh International Airport is not recognized as a ‘Point of Call’ (POC) for international airlines and hence it is not in the ‘Bilateral Offer List’, which is the first condition for foreign airlines to fly to and from Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh International Airport.
Tewari told the Union Aviation Minister that he would be very grateful if Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Chandigarh International Airport is included as a Point of Call (POC) in the list of 18 airports in India. Under which POCs like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai are included and are included in the ‘Bilateral Offer List’ for airlines to fly to and from.
It is worth mentioning that earlier, MP Tewari had strongly raised this issue by writing a letter to the Union Civil Aviation Minister and handed over the letter today during a meeting.
