Ludhiana, April 21, 2018: Residents of this industrial city are anxiously waiting to see a changed face of the city, as they are now the residents of smart city and not a common city of the state or the nation.
They had felt happy a lot after they had learnt about inclusion of their city in the first list of the smart cities announced by Union Government.
However, people are seen unhappy as the smart city project is not getting the much pace it needed.
Perhaps people are unaware of the fact that all surveys have been completed and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) have also been sent for the approval to the concern authorities, according to an official information.
The work is likely to be started immediately after the required approvals are made by GoI.
The projects to be undertaken include revamping of Buddha Nullah, installation of smart dustbins, Ghumar Market Parking Project, RoB at Pakhowal road, Slaughter House, Retrofitting of Sarabha Nagar Market, Malhar Smart road, Cycle Track in Focal Point area, Junctions’ Improvements, Solid Waste Management Project and LED Lights’ project.
All the projects are meant to be finished on a priority basis.

MP directed them to complete all the formalities and pending works soon to start the project to develop Ludhiana as a smart city.
MP told the officials and the representatives of Ludhiana Smart City Limited to pull up their socks to make Ludhiana, one of the best smart cities in the country.

Bittu said that being an MP, he and Punjab Government is answerable to the people and if such project faces roadblocks, the questions are being raised on the functioning.
He warned that laxity will not be tolerated and from now, the review meeting would be held monthly.
On the occasion, MLAs Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Sanjay Talwar, Kuldeep Singh Vaid, Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, MC Commissioner Jaskiran Singh, Senior Deputy Mayor Shyam Sunder Malhotra, MC Additional Commissioner Sanyam Aggarwal and others were present.
