MP Ravneet Singh Bittu urges residents to avail maximum benefit of government schemes

Ludhiana, April 18, 2022: Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu today urged the residents to avail maximum benefit of government schemes. MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, who is also a Chairman of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) was presiding over the committee's meeting to review various State and Central Government sponsored schemes at Bachat Bhawan here today.
He was also accompanied by MLAs Gurpreet Bassi Gogi, Jeevan Singh Sangowal and Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina, Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu, Zila Parishad chairman Yadwinder Singh Jandiali, Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik besides heads of all government departments and several others.
While reviewing various schemes, Ravneet Singh Bittu asked the officers to organise awareness camps about the schemes so that people at grassroots can be enrolled under the various schemes run by government. He also asked the officers to execute the work in a time-bound manner.
The MP said that all the departments especially education, agriculture, social welfare, health, Municipal Corporation, water supply and sanitation, rural development and others need to play an active role to facilitate the people who visit their offices daily.
MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi raised issue related to mid day meal in government schools. He said that he has been regularly getting complaints that the quality of mid day meal in some schools is not up to the mark. He also said that proper checking of Aanganwari centres should be carried out. The Deputy Commissioner directed the DEO to conduct surprise checks on weekly basis.
He also took up the issue of closure of NCLP schools by Union government and urged the Ludhiana MP to take up this issue with relevant authorities at the centre. The Deputy Commissioner informed that the students of these schools are being shifted to regular government schools so that they can be brought to the mainstream.
He also asked the Civil Surgeon to ensure proper medical facilities are provided to the residents in government hospitals of district.
Ludhiana (South) MLA Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina raised issue of poor supply of tap water in her constituency. She said that the officials should ensure potable drinking water in her constituency. The DC directed the officials to ensure that there is no water related complaint from now on. She also directed the officials to take regular samples of drinking water in all areas of the district, including schools.
Gill MLA Jeevan Singh Sangowal also took up several issues related to his constituency.
Other issues discussed in the meeting related to MGNREGA, Dhandra Cluster, mid day meal, potable drinking water, aanganwari centres, health department, Covid19 vaccination, pensions, besides several others.
