MP Sanjeev Arora announces mega overhaul of power infrastructure in Ludhiana
Ludhiana residents are set to receive significant relief in the upcoming summer season, as announced by Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Sanjeev Arora, during a press conference held today.

Ludhiana, March 9, 2025: Ludhiana residents are set to receive significant relief in the upcoming summer season, as announced by Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Sanjeev Arora, during a press conference held today.
In a major development aimed at addressing the long-standing power supply issues, new power transformers will be installed in various parts of the city within the next 90 days. This step has been taken following a comprehensive study conducted by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to identify areas where new transformers are required. Faulty transformers, which have caused repeated disruptions in the past two years, will also be replaced with new and efficient transformers. This move is expected to provide major relief to consumers during the peak summer season when power consumption increases due to the heavy use of air conditioners and other electrical appliances.
MP Arora informed that on an average, two to three new transformers will be installed daily to ensure an uninterrupted power supply. Additionally, a new Sherpur Grid, costing approximately Rs.65 crore, will also be commissioned shortly to further enhance the power distribution capacity in Ludhiana.
In another significant announcement, 37 new power feeders, each spanning 2 to 2.5 km in length, will be set up across different areas to streamline power distribution and reduce load on existing infrastructure. This step is expected to greatly minimize power breakdowns during the summer season.
MP Arora also assured the public that the long-standing issue of loose wires and faulty jumpers at various transformers will be resolved promptly. Further, clear directions have been issued to the PSPCL officials to ensure the completion of the work within the stipulated timeframe.
To address any grievances from consumers, toll-free number 1912 and the PSPCL mobile app have been made available for lodging complaints. The public has been urged to reach out in case of any power supply issues or faults.
MP Sanjeev Arora also made it clear that strict action will be taken against PSPCL officials found guilty of negligence or dereliction of duty during this crucial period. Additionally, he stated that if there is a shortage of staff in PSPCL, necessary steps will be taken to fill the vacant posts at the earliest to ensure smooth operations.
During the press conference, PSPCL Chief Engineer (CE) Jagdev Singh Hans and other officials were present. They were directed by MP Arora to ensure timely completion of these projects.
MP Arora expressed confidence that once the new transformers, grid, and feeders are in place, there will be a drastic transformation in the power supply system, ensuring a seamless and uninterrupted power supply for the residents of Ludhiana.
