Ludhiana, April 10, 2025: Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora held a meeting with residents of New Model Town at the residence of Amit Bajaj on Thursday evening. Arora, who has been fielded by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as its candidate from the Ludhiana (West) assembly constituency, patiently listened to the grievances and concerns of local residents.
Key issues raised during the meeting included the gating of mohallas, release of dues to the Park Management Committee (PMC), the stray dog menace, and waterlogging due to blocked sewerage. Residents expressed the need to install nine security gates in the locality for safety purposes. They also demanded the immediate release of pending PMC dues and raised serious concerns about the growing stray dog problem in the area. Additionally, residents complained that streets often flood during rains due to clogged sewers.
Responding to the concerns, Arora assured residents that almost all PMC dues had already been cleared by the Municipal Corporation. If any dues remain, he said, they would be released within a day or two. He also directed Municipal Councillor Kapil Kumar Sonu to take prompt action on the matter.
Regarding the installation of gates, Arora offered financial assistance from his end if residents were unable to secure support from other sources. On the stray dog issue, he acknowledged the legal challenges involved but mentioned that he had spoken to the Municipal Commissioner about finding a citywide solution. He suggested the establishment of dog shelters and expressed hope for concrete action in the near future.
Addressing the problem of flooding during rains, Arora said that cleaning of the sewer system using super suction machines was already underway across the city. He expressed optimism that this would help prevent waterlogging in the upcoming monsoon season.
Arora was accompanied by his wife Sandhya Arora and son Kavya Arora during the visit. Residents expressed satisfaction with the recent development work carried out in the area.
Later, Arora visited the nearby Gurdwara Singh Sabha and Sanatan Dharma Mandir to offer prayers.
