MP Seechewal plants 550 saplings around 'Buddha Dariya'; urge residents to step forward for encouraging greenery

Ludhiana, July 12, 2024: Moving forward with the plantation drive around 'Buddha Dariya', Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal planted around 550 tree saplings around the Dariya on Friday.
The plantation drive commenced from near STP Jamalpur site and MP Seechewal was accompanied by officials of Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana, Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) among others.
Reiterating the commitment of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) S. Bhagwant Singh Mann to spread greenery and for promoting sustainable development, Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal appealed to the residents that they should also step forward and plant as many tree saplings as possible in their surrounding areas.
MP Seechewal stated that they had commenced the plantation drive alongside 'Buddha Dariya' from Gurdwara Gau Ghat on February 2. Plantation is now being done in phases to spread greenery around the Dariya. 550 saplings of various trees were planted alongside the Buddha Dariya on Friday. MP Seechewal appealed to the NGOs/residents to step forward and join the drive.
Later, MP Seechewal also conducted a meeting with the officials of Municipal Corporation, Punjab Pollution Control Board among other departments at Jamalpur STP site and detailed discussions were held to reduce pollution levels in the 'Buddha Dariya'.
