Rupnagar: Manish Tewari, Member of Parliament from Sri Anandpur Sahib, is being consulted from different sections of the society regarding the problems faced during lockdown due to Corona infection. In this context, MP Tewari held a meeting with women leaders and workers of Congress Party from the Lok Sabha constituency through video conferencing, in which issues ranging from middle class problems to domestic violence, migrant laborers, awareness of corona and electricity bills were discussed.
All India Women Congress General Secretary Parminder Kaur expressed concern over the increasing cases of domestic violence. She said that the cases related to this have increased a lot in lockdown, due to which many times financial and social troubles also arise. Similarly, other women activists reported that business was already in recession after demonetisation and GST were implemented and the Corona epidemic has added to the problems.
Despite the government system, migrant laborers visiting their homes on the road, he revealed that it is not possible for everyone to apply online. The government will also have to find other options. Some activists termed the electricity bills unfair in these conditions, when people are short of money, many demanded free ration to the widowed women, so that their situation does not worsen. During this period, the district and block heads of Women Congress also praised the work being done in the public interest in these conditions by the MLAs and representatives of the constituency.
MP Tewari assured that due to the efforts of the government, the industries are reviving due to which the situation is improving. The process of sending migrant laborers to their homes is under process by the Punjab government. Those who have applied are being sent in turn. Will try to solve the problem related to the online application. Similarly, on domestic violence, he said that society would have to show understanding, showing restraint, sit together and solve problems, so that the police-administration fighting against Corona should not be added with extra burden as the corona epidemic might last for a long time.
So we have to keep taking precautions. People should maintain social distancing and follow government instructions from time to time, which are in their own interest. He stressed that in view of the prevailing conditions, we have to strengthen health facilities. He will intensify efforts to increase medical staff and facilities in the constituency. Tewari also paid full attention to other issues including electricity bills and assured to raise the issues before the government.
