Multidisciplinary holistic education models to drive NEP 2020 aver experts at Amity University
The two-day session was well-attended by thousands of students, faculty members and educationists from across the nation
Two-day virtual conference on ‘Implementation of National Education Policy 2020 for Transforming India’ successfully concluded at Amity University. Over 60 Vice Chancellors and educationists from across the nation exchanged ideas to tread on a common path for successfully implementing National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. A white paper comprising of recommendations from the deliberations of conference will be compiled to assist in successful policy implementation.
Guest of Honour for the valedictory session Prof. Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE stated that while NEP 2020 policy has been widely appreciated, it’s important to have its successful implementation. He called for multidisciplinary holistic education models to be focused upon by education institutions by expanding or having collaborations. He stressed upon providing quality education to all with accessibility, affordability & accountability. He also shared his views on the importance of governance structure of ‘light but tight’ regulatory framework being advocated by NEP 2020. To increase the presence of foreign students in the country, Prof. Sahasrabudhe emphasized on the need for providing proper opportunity to them including hygiene, healthcare & ease of getting into the Indian education system as well as the examination system that is based on rote learning. He averred that nature of teaching-learning is changing rapidly and there is a need for blended learning.
Guest of Honour, Dr. Bhushan Patwardhan, Vice Chairman, UGC congratulated Amity University for the constant efforts the field of research & education. He shared that self-reliance can be attained by first gaining self-respect. He called for supplementing past-glory and past pride with scientific temper and research orientation.
Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation said that the focus of Indians for research is unique in the globe. He added that being rooted to traditions makes the Indian brain unique & how education is the foundation for making the country a global superpower.
Dr. Girish Chandra Tripathi, Hon’ble Chairman, UP State Council of Higher Education, Former Vice Chancellor, Banaras Hindu University shared that NEP is rooted in Indian philosophy, vision and life. He added that society today is knowledge-driven & the current vision will pave the way for the country to regain the position of knowledge superpower. Dr. Tripathi averred that the policy aims to bring global expertise and best practices in teaching & learning. He stressed that self-reliant and self-dependent individuals can lead to the creation of Atmanirbhar Bharat and how it is just the beginning of glorious era of transformation in Indian education.
Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, AUUP & President, RBEF stated that the responsibility lies with the leaders in the field of education to implement the NEP 2020. He further added that the white paper of the conference recommendations will provide the direction in effectively implementing the futuristic policy. He stressed that India will become a global superpower following this document that is going to transform education system of the nation. Dr. Chauhan stated that NEP will allow Amity to reach out to more students across nations and provide quality education to citizens of the future.
Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP) while summing up the two-day conference shared that NEP is very timely and will transform the school & higher education in the country, making it a global education hub.
