The Cabinet Minister for Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Water Supply and Sanitation, and Housing and Urban Development, Hardeep Singh Mundian, kick-started the wheat procurement at the Sahnewal Grain Market on Monday. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government to purchase the produce and ensure that payments to farmers are made within 24 hours.

Ludhiana, April 14, 2025: The Cabinet Minister for Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Water Supply and Sanitation, and Housing and Urban Development, Hardeep Singh Mundian, kick-started the wheat procurement at the Sahnewal Grain Market on Monday. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government to purchase the produce and ensure that payments to farmers are made within 24 hours.

The Minister reviewed the arrangements made for the assured supply of clean drinking water and the maintenance of cleanliness in the market. He instructed officials from the procurement agencies to immediately upload the details of crops procured from farmers onto the portal, ensuring timely payments for the farmers. He also mentioned that farmers will receive payments at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 2,425 per quintal, directly transferred to their bank accounts within 24 hours of sale.

He emphasized that every grain from the farmers would be purchased by the state government in a transparent and efficient manner. Mundian stated that the grains would be collected in a timely fashion and assured that no farmer would have complaints about the clearance process. He added that the state government has made arrangements to ensure a hassle-free procurement experience for wheat in the state. 

Additionally, he warned that there would be zero tolerance for any delays or negligence in the procurement process.
