Jalandhar, June 15, 2022: DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology(DAVIET), Jalandhar, in association with Munjal Birmingham City University Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MBCIE), organised an interactive ‘Business Start-Ups’ session. Bernard Curren, Assistant Director Enterprise, RIEE, Birmingham City University, SK Rai, Managing Director, Hero Cycles Ltd and Prof. (Dr.) Prem Kumar, Executive Director, MBCIE, interacted with the students who showcased their products. Mr Bernard Curren gave a critical review of the student’s projects based on  his global experience and suggested remedial actions for the improvement of their prototypes/ products.

The interactive session created awareness about the start-up ecosystem, create self-employment, upgrade entrepreneurs’ skills, and provide support to set up their units under professional guidance.

Bernard shared that  India is the 3rd largest start-up community in the world, and is expected to become the  2nd largest by 2025. He highlighted that the major bottleneck in front of  good start-up ideas is the lack of support, which results in many failures. He shared valuable inputs regarding various business start-up aspects like the business idea, finance, planning & regulation, market research, cash flow forecasting & management., which should be kept in mind to make it big in the business world.

SK Rai briefed about the Initiatives taken by the Munjal Birmingham City University Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MBCIE) and the Indian government to boost start-ups in India. He also shared that the budding entrepreneurs need to create and fine-tune a business plan, assess their finances, complete all the legal paperwork, pick their partners, research apps for start-up growth, and choose the best tools and systems to help them get their marketing and sales off the ground.

Prof. (Dr.) Prem Kumar motivated students to choose a creative path in their life and become a leader in the true sense. He enlightened the students that if the vision is clear, then funding wont be a deterrent in their path. He urged upon them to  have complete focus and consistency towards their ideas to build and run a successful company.

Dr Manoj Kumar, shared that the institution has a start up Policy for students to benefit from the government’s lucrative policies. He also informed that the institution has provided space for the start-ups in the institution itself to start the business. He reiterated his belief that DAVIET students will be the trendsetters and market leaders even in the field of Entrepreneurship Development. He highlighted that we could steer the nation forward by taking the initiative and being job providers.
