Mumbai, September 14, 2024: Sony SAB’s ‘Badall Pe Paon Hai’ follows the journey of Baani (Amandeep Sidhu), an ambitious young girl who dreams of elevating her family's life. As Baani’s relationship with her husband Rajat (Akash Ahuja) strengthens, she faces a big challenge in Lavanya (Bhaweeka Chaudhary), Rajat’s ex-girlfriend. Lavanya still has feelings for Rajat and regrets leaving him and is determined to create a rift between Baani and Rajat in the hope of winning him back.
Bhaweeka Chaudhary, known for her stellar acting skills, brings depth and complexity to the role of Lavanya. She shares insights into the preparation for the role, her portrayal of Lavanya’s manipulative nature, and how she sees her character influencing the future of Baani and Rajat’s relationship.
Q1. Can you shed some light on Lavanya and Rajat's past and how it influences their current interactions?
Rajat and Lavanya were in a relationship for six years, they started dating back in college and continued to be together in their career. While Lavanya was busy with her event management business, Rajat was also working alongside her, supplying flowers to her company. They were in love and had future plans which included marriage. However, Lavanya made a mistake by going to the US after being influenced by her father and that affected their relationship, Rajat eventually married Bani, with whom he is now happily settled.
In the present, Lavanya regrets leaving him and wishes to rekindle their relationship. Despite her efforts to move on, she is unable to and wants Rajat back in her life. And as Rajat, remains committed to his life with Baani, Lavanya is constantly trying to make him change his mind by hook or by crook.
Q2. How do you see Lavanya’s character evolving in the upcoming episodes?
Lavanya is a strong, ambitious, and independent girl who only feels weak when it comes to her relationship with Rajat. She has only one motive which is to get back the love of her life, Rajat, and she will do whatever it takes to achieve that. Since Rajat got married, she has become completely helpless, and her only goal is to revive her earlier bond and relationship with him.
Q3. Is Lavanya the antagonist in the story?
Lavanya doesn’t come across as a villain but rather as a character deeply affected by a big mistake that she made by leaving Rajat in the past. Her actions are driven by a strong emotional connection with Rajat and a desire to correct the past, even if that means challenging Rajat’s current relationship with Bani. Lavanya’s character seems to be motivated by genuine feelings and a longing to make things right, rather than malicious intent. Despite her strength and independence, her desire for Rajat highlights her emotional vulnerability and unresolved love. This is what sets her character apart and not classify her as your typical villain.
Q4. What are some of the challenges you've faced while playing Lavanya?
I wouldn’t say challenge as such, but every character has its ups and downs, and drawing from those experiences provides motivation. Plus, I have observed how other actors have portrayed their grey characters in the past and I’ve taken notes from their approach and attitude, which has helped me shape and enhance my portrayal of Lavanya. As an actor, it's important to build and evolve your character, and I’ve focused on that aspect. The feedback I have got from fans suggests that my performance is well-received and going well.
Q5. What’s it like working with Amandeep Sidhu and Aakash Ahuja?
Working with Amandeep is a lot of fun. Initially, I was curious about how things would go, but after getting to know her, I found that she has the same vibe as me. We get along well on set, often chilling together and chatting about various topics. It’s great to have that kind of camaraderie. As for working with Akash, it's been a positive experience overall. Akash is a bit reserved and requires his own space, but we’ve developed a good rapport. Both Amandeep and Akash are great people and talented actors, making the work environment enjoyable.
Q6. What has been your most memorable moment on set so far and while shooting in Chandigarh?
The most memorable moments on set are when all the actors gather for meals. This time is always special as we chat, gossip, and enjoy each other’s company. It feels like having a family on set, especially for those who miss home-cooked meals. Everyone shares their lunch boxes, and this unity enhances our bond. The warm and welcoming atmosphere helps alleviate any homesickness, especially since we all live away from our families. Overall, the support and positive vibes among the cast create a fantastic environment, and everyone is genuinely enthusiastic about the show.
