Ludhiana, April 3, 2023: “My Family Farmer” in association with Lodhi Club celebrated World Health Day by organising the display of Organic products of 6 farmers and conducting workshops by 3 doctors and specialists on the relationship of Good health with food.
Surabhi Malik IAS Deputy Commissioner and Dr Hitendar Kaur Civil Surgeon Ludhiana presided over the event.
My Family Farmer is a community farming group that has been awarded in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha for its success to promote Organic Farming. "We grow Vegetables for our members and have developed our own delivery systems", informed Maneet Dewan.
Rohit Gupta another member of my family farmer informed that the annual membership fee is Rs 36,000 that covers all farming and delivery expenses in which each member gets approximately 300-350 kg vegetables annually directly delivered to their door step.
We also mentor Farmers to grow Organic Wheat, Rice, Pulses, Herbs etc and facilitate orders and deliveries for them, said Amrita Mangat.
Dr Naveen Pierrara Radiologist delivered a workshop on the effect of pesticides in newborn, Dr Gauhar Vatsyayan and Ayurveda Doctor discussed relevance of seasonal and natural vegetables that grow as per needs of our body and climate. Simrat Kathuria a Dietician highlighted that there is actually no replacement of natural vegetables to provide all the required nutrients to our body and Dr Jas Kohli explained the technical aspects of nutrition in respective diets affecting our body.
Organic farmers namely Surinder Singh from ganganagar, Nawroop Singh from fazilka, rupinder Kaur from pakhowal displayed their products and got very good response. Home chefs Rooh Chowdhury and Teena Gupta presented home made millets ladoos and breads.
CA Nitin Mahajan appreciating this initiative highlighted that their Club is always welcome in initiatives that benefit their members in any way. Clubs are not only a place for entertainment and dining but such events are very useful for the members and their families suggested Ritu Chandna Lady Executive.
