"My Garbage, My Responsibility – Safe Future" Campaign to Launch in Dharamshala

Two-Month Cleanliness Drive to Promote a Cleaner, Prosperous City

Dharamshala, February 7, 2025: In a major step towards strengthening cleanliness and waste management, the "My Garbage, My Responsibility – Safe Future" campaign will be launched in Dharamshala under the "Clean City, Prosperous City" initiative. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Zafar Iqbal informed that the campaign will be officially inaugurated on February 10 at 11 AM at the Community Auditorium, Dharamshala, and will continue for two months.

The campaign aims to enhance the city's sanitation system by improving coordination between citizens and Swachhata Mitras (sanitation workers). A key focus will be raising awareness among residents about proper waste segregation—ensuring separate disposal of wet and dry waste. Additionally, Swachhata Mitras will receive training and motivation for better service delivery.

As part of the initiative, solution camps will be held in all city wards, where councillors and municipal officials will address sanitation-related issues on the spot. These efforts are aimed at making Dharamshala Smart City cleaner, greener, and more livable. The campaign will also encourage the active participation of voluntary organizations and citizens in maintaining cleanliness.

Commissioner Zafar Iqbal emphasized that along with strengthening door-to-door garbage collection, the management of solid waste disposal is being closely monitored. Regular awareness programs will be conducted to ensure long-term sustainability of cleanliness efforts.

The inaugural workshop on February 10 will see the presence of Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa and Mayor Neenu Sharma as chief guests, with Deputy Mayor Tejinder Kaur, former Mayor Devendra Jaggi, and councillors from all wards attending as special guests. Their collective efforts and public participation will play a crucial role in the campaign's success.

This ambitious drive is expected to set a new benchmark in urban sanitation and public responsibility, reinforcing the message that a cleaner city is a shared responsibility for a better future.
