Mytharche: Transfusing NexGen Perspective and their annual cultural fest Cyanide’22

Chandigarh, April 25, 2022: Enactus SSBUICET Panjab University, a team of 100+ student members, dedicated towards a common goal of bringing “the best suitable business model” in order to shape a better society has come forward to raise concerns surrounding the challenges that affect the health and wellbeing of women and girls due to the lack of hygienic menstrual products, through their mega event, “Mytharache: Transfusing NexGen Perspective”, scheduled for April 29, 2022 during the annual cultural fest of Dr. SSBUICET, Panjab University-“CYANIDE”, conveyed by Prof. Seema Kapoor, Faculty Advisor, Enactus Team.

The event is being sponsored under CSR Project Amodini, a “Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management Program” of Versatile Enterprises Private Ltd., Ludhiana, a group into manufacturing of laminated and innovative fabrics and garments. Versatile group has been instrumental in designing of this project and has been augmenting Project Uday of Enactus SSBUICET working on similar framework of ensuring Menstrual Health and Sanitation and manufacturing eco-friendly cloth based sanitary napkins.

The welcoming note was presented by Mr. Akshit Kalra, President of Enactus Team. He shared insights about the annual cultural fest of SSBUICET, Cyanide which is being organized from 28th to 30th of April 2022. He shared how the fest is going to be a conglomerate of cultural, technical and fun events like Fashion Night, Cyanothon, Band Performances & EDM night, which will be witnessed by the students from tricity, Delhi and other places in North India as well. Akshit also added how team at Enactus is initiating service above self since over a decade.

Prof. Amrit Pal Toor, Chairperson of Dr. SSBUICET, formally welcomed the members of print and electronic media, Mr. Akhil Seth, Director of Versatile Group, Ms. Geetanjali Bakshi, CSR Coordinator of Versatile Group, Dr. Rupinder, Chief Medical Officer, Panjab University, Dr. Rajni Lamba, CEO of THE REEDS, and Ms. Ibadat Jishtu, India Program Manager and Consultant, Enactus Global at the launch of the annual cultural fest of Dr. SSBUICET, Cyanide, and Mytharche-Transfusing NexGen Perspective, workshop on promoting menstrual health.

In conversation with the press, Mr. Akhil Seth and Mr. Kapil Seth, Directors of Versatile Group highlighted how Project Amodini came into existence and how it has been at forefront in keeping up with the cause of building awareness among the rural population on menstruation. Mr. Akhil Seth also highlighted the design and technical parameters of cotton-based sanitary napkins. Ms. Geetanjali Bakshi emphasized on the positive collaboration between Enactus and Versatile group and conveyed the designing, manufacturing and collecting feedback process of sanitary napkins.

Prof. Seema Kapoor, Faculty advisor of Enactus, Panjab University shared how the collaboration between Enactus and Versatile during lockdown has today yielded positive results, now benefitting communities and making them aware about the significance of maintaining menstrual health. Prof. Kapoor also informed that under this workshop, the team is organizing an expert talk on “Importance of Women’s Menstrual Health” and interactive session by Dr. Neelam Sodhi, MD (OBS & Gynae), theme-based theatrical performance, poster making competition and monologue competition. The workshop will also feature a song and dance performance followed by refreshments, averred Prof. Kapoor.

Chief Medical Officer of Panjab University, Dr. Rupinder informed how girls and young women come to her everyday regarding menstrual health concerns and how there is an absolute requirement to be vocal about these issues. She praised team Enactus about the work it has been delivering in promoting menstrual health.

Dr. Rajni Lamba, CEO, The Reeds, shared the positive and constructive feedback she received of the cloth-based sanitary napkins, which was distributed by their organization across different communities.

Ms. Ibadat Jishtu too was present during the press conference and congratulated the team of Enactus, SSBUICET on securing the position among the Top 12 teams worldwide, in 1 Race 4 Oceans under Project Uday. She appreciated the team for taking Uday at a next level.

Health Workers from DIR, India were among the participants for the press conference and informed about the favourable points of these Amodini cloth-based sanitary napkins like easy to wash, durable, no risk of infection, no stains after wash, quick drying and cost effective.

Project Head, Chetan Wadhwa, Technical Head, Harsh Sharma of Team Enactus, SSBUICET, handled the technicalities of the press conference and vocalized the cause of promoting concerns associated with menstrual health.

Sonali and Meesha, Vice President of Team Enactus participated in the press conference and vocalized the cause of adopting menstrual hygiene practices.

Dea Batra, Content Head of Team Enactus presented the vote of thanks and informed about the event, Mytharche, which is scheduled for April 29, 2022.
