NABARD Cluster office inaugurated at Ludhiana
Ludhiana, August 27, 2021: NABARD opened a cluster office in Ludhiana district to cater to the needs of Ludhiana Cluster comprising of 04 districts namely Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, SBS Nagar, and Rupnagar respectively.
Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, and Dr. Rajiv Siwach, CGM, NABARD, Punjab RO, Chandigarh jointly inaugurated Ludhiana cluster office on 26 August 2021 in Miller Ganj, Ludhiana.
The special occasion was graced by Shri Sumanta Mohanty(GM – SLBC), Shri S.K. Dubey (PGB – Chairman), Shri Dwij Verma (GM, Mega Food Park Ludhiana), Shri Sanjay Gupta (LDM- Ludhiana) and Shri Raj Kiran Johari (AGM – NABARD).
Managing Directors (MDs) as well as District Managers (DMs) of Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Nawanshahr, and Ropar DCCBs were also present on the occasion.
After the inauguration, CGM had a detailed discussion with the Chairman - PGB as well as MDs/DMs of Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Nawanshahr, and Ropar DCCBs to increase the investment credit in agriculture for long term and sustainable growth in the sector.
CGM also visited Punjab Agriculture University and reviewed the progress of projects being implemented by the university with the Director (Research), Additional Director (Research), Additional Director (Extension), HODs of various department and Project Heads of NABARD assisted projects. CGM emphasized the swift transfer of technologies developed in the Labs to the field of farmers to help the farmers in adopting improved technologies as per their farm plans and demonstrate to them the economic viability of those technologies as well as methods of cultivation and farm management. CGM also discussed with Dr. Sodhi, Additional Director, PAU on the operationalization of the “Grameen Chintan ” Scheme for meritorious post-graduate students of the university. CGM also discussed new projects for development and propagating agriculture technology among farmers focusing on the issues faced by farmers of Punjab. Training programs specially designed for FPOs members with NABARD assistance, in collaboration with PAU & GADVASU, were also reviewed and discussed during the meeting.
The visit ended with CGM interaction with CEOs of Agri start-up in the Ludhiana district. CGM inquired about the development of a start-up ecosystem in the district and the difficulties faced by them.
