Names of BSF Posts will be renamed on names of martyrs: DG Daljeet Singh Chaudhary

The names of the border posts of Punjab Frontier will be renamed on the names of those BSF martyrs who attained martyrdom while fighting against enemy; this was revealed by Daljit Singh Chaudhary, Director General of the Border Security Force Daljit Singh Chaudhary during his visit to this border district on the occasion of Raja Mohttam Day celebrations.

Ferozepur, December 11, 2024: The names of the border posts of Punjab Frontier will be renamed on the names of those BSF martyrs who attained martyrdom while fighting against enemy; this was revealed by Daljit Singh Chaudhary, Director General of the Border Security Force Daljit Singh Chaudhary during his visit to this border district on the occasion of Raja Mohttam Day celebrations.

While addressing the media persons, DG Chaudhary said also that this is his first visit to Hussainiwala and he is happy to see the beautiful visitors gallery. He said that the BSF will try to popularize the retreat ceremony of Hussainiwala.

The DG also paid floral tributes to the martyrs Bhagat Singh Rajguru, Sukhdev and BK Dutt at the national martyrs memorial in Hussainiwala. “To pay tributes to the martyrs, the BSF is renaming the names of the BSF posts of Punjab Frontier on the name of the martyrs. Till now, the names of seven posts have been renamed and soon the others names will be changed”, said DG.

As per information the seven BSF posts which have been renamed till now are Channan (Earlier Chaura FWD-II), Karnail (Sheela), Gurnam (Karma), Dalbir (Fwd Kakkar), Hardev (New Sundargarh), Hardeep (T-Bund) and Prahlad (MP Fwd).
The DG also inaugurated the “BSF Mahila Prahari accommodation” at the Border out Post Raja Mohttam. During the inauguration, DG BSF expressed admiration for the brave women who voluntarily joined the BSF to serve the nation, recognizing their courage and dedication. He said that the BSF is working on creating advanced and well-equipped accommodation facilities for BSF Mahila Prahari at various BOPs along the border, ensuring they have the necessary amenities to perform their duties effectively.
 
During the visit the DG also honoured the family members of the martyrs and expressed his gratitude. On this occasion, a documentary “Raja Mohttam : The Untold Saga of BSF Bravery”, was also played. Raghuvir Singh, SI (Retd.), BSF, a veteran of the 1971 war with Pakistan, shared his experiences with BSF personnel and the youth residing near the border.
 
HISTORY OF RAJA MOHATTAM DAY
During the Indo-Pakistan war in 1971, the BSF also played a vital role with Indian Army. On December 7, Assistant Commandant Ram Kishan Wadhwa led the column of BSF personnel through heavily mined area under enemy fire. After a long battle, Wadhwa and troops secured the BOP Raja Mohattam which was earlier had to be vacated on December 3. On December 11, the Pakistani army furiously bombard at the BOP where saving his men and post, Assistant Commandant Wadhwa and eight personnel of BSF attained martyrdom.
