National Lok Adalat on July 10 in Ludhiana
Benches would be constituted in district and sub-division level courts
Ludhiana: A National Lok Adalat will be held in Ludhiana on July 10 in which cases including civil, compoundable criminal cases, revenue cases, traffic challan, claim cases, motor vehicle cases would be taken up for disposal amicably.
In a press conference, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) secretary-cum-CJM PS Kaleka said that the benches would be set up in all the courts of the district and sub-division levels.
He added that the decision taken into the national Lok Adalats is the final, which cannot be challenged in any other courts. He also claimed that Lok Adalats save the time and money of the people and help in maintaining peace in the society.
He further informed that Civil cases like rent, bank recovery, Revenue Cases, Electricity & Water Bills (excluding theft cases), Service matters relating to pay and allowances and retiral benefits, Forest Act cases, Disaster Compensation, Criminal Compoundable Cases, Complaints under Section 138 of Negotiable Instruments Act, Covered matters, would be taken up by the Courts of Civil Judges or Judicial Magistrates in the Lok Adalat.
He also said that Lok Adalat is the best way to achieve cheap and quicker resolution of disputes. Singh added that the disputes resolved through Lok Adalat are on the basis of mutually acceptable terms, he added.
He also added that the DLSA provides free legal aid to all women, children, differently-abled people, factory workers, members of the scheduled castes and tribes and victims of disasters. He said that if anybody wants any kind of legal aid, he can visit the office of DLSA or call on toll-free number 1968.
Singh appealed to the people to avail maximum benefit of the National Lok Adalat on July 10.
