National News- CBI arrests two JEs of MES in bribery case of Rs. 2 lakhs

New Delhi/Jalandhar, October 2, 2013: The Central Bureau Of Investigation has arrested two JE of MES working in the office of Garrison Engineer (East), Allahabad for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 2 lakhs from the complainant.

A case was registered against a  JE, MES, working in the office of Garrison Engineer (East), Allahabad u/s 7 of PC Act 1988, on the basis of a complaint from Allahabad based contractor. It was alleged in the complaint that the JE has demanded a bribe of Rs. 2 lakh from the supervisor of complainant’s firm, for processing his pending bills as well as commission for the bills already cleared by him. Accordingly, a trap was laid. The accused accepted the bribe amount of Rs. 2 lakhs from the supervisor of Complainant’s firm and handed over the bribe amount to his colleague another JE, MES, working in the office of Garrison Engineer (East), Allahabad, who sits with accused in same chamber. Both the accused were caught red handed by the CBI while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs. 2 lakhs from the  supervisor of the complainant. The search of office almirah of accused JEs led to further recovery of about Rs. 2,08,900. Some incriminating documents were also recovered during the search.

Both the arrested accused persons were produced before the Competent Court at Lucknow and were remanded to judicial custody.

The investigation of the case is under progress.
